The Wickedness of Work-Systems Problems

Categories:

Our latest library acquisition is a paper by Joe Ouye, "The Wickedness of Work-Systems Problems," a chapter in the book, Architecture-Design Methods-Inca Structures, by Johanna and Hans Dehlinger. Joe's paper describes the lack of appreciation or understanding of the wicked nature of work-systems problems. Wicked problems behave badly. He provides several examples of these problems -- the impact of false beliefs on design issues, the challenge of trying to solve management issues architecturally, and the difficulty of collecting company-wide data on issues (such as sustainability) when there is no single point of responsibility. You can find his paper in library at: http://www.newwow.net/members/node/1350
